Corrections

Tax and fee rules change, and we don't always catch it the moment they do. Here's how to tell us, and what happens next.

How to report one

Contact us with the state, the specific rate or fee, and a link to the official source that shows the current figure. A direct link to the government page or statute gets a correction checked and published faster than a general "this looks wrong."

What happens after you report it

  • We check the source you sent against the current figure on the page.
  • If it confirms a change, we update the state's data file, which updates both the written page and the calculator at the same time, so they can't drift apart.
  • The page's "last reviewed" date updates when we do.

When we can't confirm a change

If we can't find an official source for the number you reported, we'll say so rather than publish it anyway. We'd rather leave a figure marked "not included" than guess, even from a report we trust. See our methodology for why.

Past corrections

We don't keep a public changelog of every fix, but we do keep every correction tied to the source that justified it, inside the state's own data file. If you want to know why a number changed, ask us and we can tell you what prompted it.
